Catherine J. Woodman

As CEO of United Way of Halifax Region, Catherine Woodman has
a unique background in public relations and human resource management in both the private and public sectors. A graduate of Mount Saint Vincent University's Public Relations degree program in 1984, Catherine began her career leading the Public Relations team at the IWK Children's Hospital. She was Acting Chief of Protocol responsible for the 1994 Queen's visit to Nova Scotia. Catherine moved to the private sector and joined Maritime Life where she was Vice President of Public Affairs and, later, Vice President of Human Resources. Today, Catherine leads United Way of Halifax that, next to government, is the largest contributor to the social sector in this community. She is an active volunteer on the boards of the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Public Affairs and Mount Saint Vincent University, her alma mater and has served on the boards of the YWCA, the IWK Health Centre and the Arthritis Society.
