Dr. Teresa MacNeil

Dr. MacNeil retired from St Francis Xavier University in 1996 after a 37-year teaching career that included posts as Chair of the University's new Department of Adult Education and a decade as Director of Extension. Currently she serves on the Boards of Voluntary Planning, the Canadian Museum of Nature, and the Rural Communities Foundation of Nova Scotia; is Chair of the National Advisory Group for the Adult Learning Knowledge Centre, the Advisory Board of Cape Breton University Press and of the Bras d'Or Lake Biosphere Reserve Association. Her previous responsibilities include Chair of the Cape Breton Development Corporation and Vice-Chair of Enterprise Cape Breton. Dr. MacNeil has served on many boards, commissions and professional associations of Adult Education and Community Development at the provincial, national, and international level. Her work was honoured in 2005 with the Order of Canada.
