In 2008, the Honourable Mayann E. Francis, Lieutenant Governor of Nova
Scotia, recognized and honoured the first recipients of her Community Spirit
Award: Annapolis Royal, Clare, Port Morien and Tatamagouche. These four
communities were outstanding among 19 strong nominees who demonstrated their
abilities to work, play, think, problem-solve and celebrate together.

The Lieutenant Governor's Community Spirit Award acknowledges strong
communities for the role they play in creating adaptable citizens and
raising leaders who believe in and make their community, their province and
their country better places to live.

If your community...
- nurtures,
- serves,
- helps,
- fosters a sense of belonging
- is concerned with the health
of the greater whole
- contributes to making
Nova Scotia a better place

...tell us why it deserves
the spotlight. Go to Award
