When Her Honour thought about how she could 'reach back' to her community as a gesture of thanks for all its neighbours had done for her, she first reached out to the United Way of Halifax Region. United Way established a Design Committee, made up of people who share the belief that strong communities make a lasting impact on the lives of those within it. This group worked to structure an award that would be inclusive, appealing and a permanent part of Nova Scotia's culture of celebration.
"I extend a heartfelt thank you to the members of the design committee who laboured for months to fine tune the idea of a community spirit award and worked through the hundreds of details."
