Lorne Clarke
Halifax

Born in Malagash, NS, Lorne Clarke graduated from Dalhousie University with a BA and an LL.B. and he received an LLM from Harvard University. He was admitted to the Bar in 1953 and was appointed Queen's Counsel in 1969.   Mr. Clarke was a member of the Faculty of Law of Dalhousie University and practiced law in Truro, Nova Scotia.   In 1981, he was made a Judge of the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia, Trial Division. In 1985, he became the 20 th Chief Justice since the founding of the Nova Scotia Supreme Court.   In retirement, Lorne was the Chair of the Memorial Advisory Committee of Swissair Flight 111.   He is an Officer of the Order of Canada and was awarded the Order of Nova Scotia in 2002.   Mr. Clarke is a member of the board of Governors of Dalhousie, a honourary Governor of Commissionaires of Nova Scotia and a council member of the Pugwash Peace Exchange. Mr. Clarke currently chairs the Halifax Chamber of Commerce
